In September our team took part in the BEAST race; this is a 10km obstacle course in Banchory that has a variety of obstacles; water slides, icy loch waters, thick mud and swamp crossings.

Our team went through a grueling training process with some team members running and utilizing the gym for two months in preparation and others took a more relaxed approach of taking holidays drinking margaritas and eating buffalo wings!

Regardless of how we trained we all finished the race as a team and enjoyed the whole process even being neck deep in the mud was met with a lot of laughter. It was extremely challenging, so we are all incredibly proud of ourselves and are looking forward to participating in our next challenge.

We raised a whopping £2,265 for friends of Anchor, smashing our original target by 453%. We also are in the top 5% of fundraisers on Just Giving.

So, a little bit about friends of anchor - our favored charity that we have supported since 2008;

The Anchor Unit is a collective of specialized wards and clinics within Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. This is the central hub for cancer and hematology care for the North-East of Scotland.

They have person-centered wellbeing services which are freely available for every patient, with programs also available for the staff caring for them. They invest in medical equipment and pioneering research to push the boundaries in how they diagnose, treat and care for people. Anchor also pledges to promote clinical excellence including funded development programs for NHS clinical staff which enhance knowledge and expertise.

Anchors founding aims are to provide the best possible treatment, care and support to patients.

It is good to note that every penny of every pound donated to Friends of Anchor goes to the cause because their operating costs are fully covered by an Aberdeen company Balmoral Group and have been since the charity was founded.

Yesterday, we took delivery of 2 stainless steel 90 cubic metre Special Product tanks from Richard Allan Engineering. These tanks demonstrate our continued investment within our Altens facility in Aberdeen. The tanks will ensure that we are handling waste in a safe and efficient manner. Thanks to Global Crane Services for a professional job, while putting the tanks into position.
